Construction of hydraulic cuff occluders for blood vessels.
نویسنده
چکیده
This report describes the construction technique for a simple and inexpensive cuff occluder for various size blood vessels. The occluder is made from polyvinyl chloride tubing and consist of two main parts, the balloon and catheter section, and the reinforcing back section. The occluders have functioned reliably in chronic dog preparations for up to 3 mo.

Effects of salt Stress on Root Anatomy and Hydraulic Conductivity of Barley Cultivars
A hydroponic experiment was carried out to compare root anatomy and hydraulic conductivity of four barley cultivars including Valfajr, Karoon, Afzal and Zarjo under salt stress conditions. The results showed that under salt stress, the minimum diameter of vessels was observed in the peripheral metaxylem of seminal roots of Valfajr cultivar and in adventitious roots; Karoon with 19±3 µm had maxi...
متن کاملDesigning and Constructing an Optical System to measure Continuous and Cuffless Blood Pressure Using Two Pulse Signals
Introduction Blood pressure (BP) is one of the important vital signs that need to be monitored for personal healthcare. Arterial blood pressure is estimated from pulse transit time (PTT). This study uses two pulse sensors to get PTT. The aim of this study was to construct an optical system and to monitor blood pressure continuously and without cuff in people with different ages. Materials and M...
متن کاملIncrease of dermal blood volume fraction reduces the threshold for laser-induced purpura: implications for port wine stain laser treatment.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The average success rate in achieving total blanching of port wine stain (PWS) lesions treated with laser-induced selective photothermolysis is below 25%, even after multiple treatments. This is because smaller diameter (5-20 microm) PWS blood vessels are difficult to destroy with selective photothermolysis since the volumetric heat generated by absorption of laser lig...
متن کاملA Micromachined Stainless Steel Cuff for Electromagnetic Measurement of Flow in Blood Vessels
This paper reports a micromachined cuff that senses blood flow velocity inside a blood vessel. Utilizing two electrically isolated electrodes in the cuff, the sensor produces a voltage proportional to the flow rate in the presence of a magnetic flux, which is to be externally read out by an implanted circuit chip. The cuff structure is fabricated from planar stainless steel foil using batch-com...
متن کاملStem Vascular Architecture in the Rattan Palm
Climbing stems in the rattan genus Calamus can reach lengths of well over 100 m, are long-lived, and yet their vascular tissue is entirely primary. Such a combination suggests that stem vasculature is efficient and resistant to hydraulic disruption. By means of an optical shuttle and video recording of sequential images we analyzed the stem of a cultivated species. The stem has vascular feature...
